DAY 1:

professional development workshops and pre-booked leadership interviews

FRIDAY 7 JANUARY

  • 12pm (noon) onwards: candidate sign in
  • 1.30pm to 3pm, 4pm to 5.30pm: PD workshops

The first day is dedicated to professional development workshops, delivered by recruiting schools. This year we are offering two time slots, both delivering a session designed for all levels from teachers up to senior leaders. Certificates of attendance will be provided for all attendees. If you cannot attend, then you can still attend the event from day two onwards.

DAY 2:

open fair session and interviews

SATURDAY 8 JANUARY

  • 7.30am to 8.30am: sign in
  • 8am and 8.30am: two intro briefings
  • 9am to 11am: open fair session
  • 11am to 6pm: interviews
  • 6pm to 8pm: mixer event

Candidates have the opportunity to meet with the schools, give out CVs and schedule interviews at the open fair session. All attending candidates must sign in prior to meeting with schools. Immediately following, one-on-one interviews will take place in dedicated rooms at the hotel. Schools usually schedule these in 30- or 45-minute blocks.

The mixer event is an opportunity for candidates and recruiters to meet informally, with a complimentary drink and snacks provided.

DAY 3:

interviews and offers

SUNDAY 9 JANUARY

  • 8am to 6pm: face-to-face interviews
  • 12pm onwards: offers can be made to candidates where appropriate.

Day three sees another day of interviews. Schools will make contract offers from 12pm (noon), although most schools will be interviewing right up until the end of the fair. Candidates have the option to check out once all their interviews are completed.

Over two-thirds of candidates attending our fairs receive offers of contracts from schools either at the event itself or within two weeks of attending.

where to stay?

We usually negotiate a discounted room rate at the 5-star hotel that hosts the Shanghai fair. Venue location and room booking information will be released as soon as possible ahead of the fair. In the meantime, please email Winnie winnie@explorecrs.com to discuss any accommodation questions.

There are also plenty of reasonably priced hotels in Shanghai, most with convenient public transport connections. We can provide a list of those closest to the fair venue.

Day one begins with candidate sign in. This can be busy so please arrive as early as possible. It is essential that you attend between 9am to 11am in order to meet schools and schedule interviews (if necessary). From 11am the open fair session will close and schools will conduct scheduled interviews, along with presentations, at set times between 11am and 6pm.

DAY 2:

Saturday 7 December

  • 8am - 3pm: interviews
  • from 12pm (noon) onwards: job offers made

Day two sees another day of interviews. Schools will make contract offers from 12pm (noon), although most schools will be interviewing right up until the end of the fair. Candidates have the option to check out once all their scheduled interviews are completed.

Schools will have the option to offer candidates a position at their school during the fair. However, a key feature of Explore CRS fairs is that offers can only be made by schools after 12pm (noon) on the final day. This means that candidates won’t feel pressured to accept positions before they’ve had a chance to meet with all prospective employers at the fair. Over two-thirds of candidates attending our fairs receive offers of contracts from schools either at the event itself or within two weeks of attending. Schools must give candidates a minimum of 24 hours to accept or decline an offer. In practice, the vast majority of schools will provide significantly longer than this.
